WHO WE ARE:
Taos Association of Music Professionals (Taos AMP) is a grassroots, non-profit organization created with the overall goal of improving music industry opportunities in the Taos region for the mutual benefit of its members. Using a cooperative model, Taos AMP intends to assist the efforts of all local music professionals in making a career in this challenging business through support of music industry economic development efforts and education of its members. Members volunteer their time as a contribution toward our vision of making Taos a Southwest music destination.

Mission: Taos AMP is dedicated to nurturing and serving the Taos regional music community and promoting it to the world. Its mission is to support and further the individual goals of music professionals through cooperation, education and economic development for the music industry within the general Taos, New Mexico region. It is also dedicated to contributing to the cultural enrichment of Taos through community music education programs and live performances.
Goals:
1. Brand & promote Taos as a first-class music city in order to: - Attract tourism and create a demand for more music venues - Earn a reputation as a premium destination for the professional business of creating music - Increase performance, studio and music industry job opportunities - Gain international attention for regional music professionals
2. Provide music education programs such as: - Music business workshops - Song writing circles and music theory workshops - Cooperative enhancements to local school music programs
3. Provide networking opportunities to: - Create an environment of inclusiveness and cooperation within the music community - Form connections with individuals and commercial and government entities able to provide benefits to Association members - Collaborate with other arts organizations for mutual benefit
4. Create a central data base for the Taos music community to include: - A music business resource center - A hub for internet web links - Contact information for regional musicians, venues & related businesses
5. Develop means for promotion & marketing of local music and music services
6. Enrich the community through cultural, educational & economic opportunities
Membership:
Open to all music professionals and supporters of the music industry within the general Taos, NM region. Membership Benefits:

Monthly Meeting
Monthly meetings are usually the first Monday of the month.
There will not be a meeting this month due to conflicts and no current agenda items.

Monthly Music Jam & Potluck Dinner
Sorry but there will not be a Music Jam party this month either.  Plans are underway for one in June.  Further details to be announced.  If you would like to host a party, please contact Patrick Neher at patrick@isgpublications.com.

Gallery Concert Series
El Monte Sagrado was the host of a wonderful gallery concert Monday May 3rd.  Kenny White was fabulous and there were over 40 people in attendance.  If anyone is interested in hosting or performing a gallery concert please contact Kelly for help in setting one up.  Kelly@petroglyphrecords.com

Local Music News
Taos Plaza Live opens for the season on Thursday, May 27th at 6pm.  The schedule of bands has yet to be released so keep you eye out in the Tempo.
New Mexico Music Awards
The 2010 New Mexico Music Awards are just around the corner.  The Awards show takes place Sunday night, May 23rd at the Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid.  Celebrate 23 years of recognizing excellence in recorded music in New Mexico. Tickets must be purchased by Friday, May 14th and cannot be purchased at the door.   Tickets are available at www.newmexicomusicawards.com.
Battle of the Bands
The Santa Claran Hotel Casino is Sponsoring a Talent Showcase/Battle of the Bands in partnership with:

In order for Taos AMP to continue to function without being dependent upon any one individual, we have decided to form committees who will be responsible for handling various tasks. To spread the work load among members, each TaosAMP member is asked to participate in at least one committee.

As a Taos AMP member, you will benefit by networking with other music professionals in Northern New Mexico. As a member you will have password-protected access to this site, where you can upload songs for public play, submit calendar events for public display, and you will be able to alter and maintain your public information. Members participate in meetings that set policies, organize performances and recordings, parties and workshops, and members are informed via email about events and opportunities locally, and other services as they become available (like selling your music via our site). You have nothing to lose and lots to gain!
